The objective of Horizons d’Afrique is to establish itself in a sustainable manner, mainly in Africa. It already has a very strong link with Rwanda, South Africa, Madagascar, Mayotte, the Republic of Congo and Uganda
ParticipateDr. Jean-Paul Amar is a highly experienced eye surgeon. He was secretary then president of the SCRV (Societé des Chirurgiens Rétino-Vitréene). He is the Country Delegate in France of the EVRS (European Vitreo Retinal Society).
He was the referral ophthalmologist for the NGO Rencontres Africaines for many years. With more than 30,000 vitreoretinal surgeries in thirty years, his activity has allowed the clinics where he perform to be ranked among the top twenty retina clinics in France, each year since 1994.
ParticipateThe NGO Horizons d’Afrique was born out of four decades of experience in eye surgery of Dr. Jean-Paul Amar, including in many countries with vulnerable populations.
His successive missions in Africa (Algeria, Tunisia, Niger, Rwanda) as well as in the Indian Ocean (Mayotte, Madagascar, Reunion) enabled him to have a global footprint with the establishment of vitreoretinal surgery departments, most often in existing structures. Indeed, vitreoretinal surgery is often completely lacking in low-income countries. Dr. Jean-Paul Amar has developed equipment and operating techniques specific to these settings. Simplified, effective and reproducible, these surgical techniques allow the performance of complex surgeries with excellent economic efficiency on patients with advanced pathologies.
ParticipateThe donations allocated to Horizons d’Afrique will allow donors to hold a membership card recognizing their generosity. They will also be able to communicate their participation in this extraordinary human adventure.
Finally, these donations are tax deductible: The “Loi Coluche“ (Coluche law) provides that donations to organizations aiming to help the poorest in providing free food or medical care, whether in France or abroad, benefit from a tax reduction corresponding to 75% of the donation made, up to a maximum of 1 000 €.
The donations enable an income tax reduction equal to 66% of the amount paid, up to the limit of 20% of taxable income.
